Kurt was about two steps from hyperventilating when he stood there and convinced himself he was in an empty bungalow and everyone was just playing a really horrible and awful joke on him. He did know, rationally, deep down that his friend would never do that to him, but when you were so desperate for something to be, you could easily begin to convince yourself of bad things. Or more bad things. Kurt just wasn't sure how much more bad things could happen to him before he folded and didn't want to get back up again. There was a tiny, helpless sob that fell from his lips as he looked around the living area of the bungalow. All he wanted was to wrap his arms around Blaine and not let go, but Blaine wasn't here.

A renewed splash of tears fell and all the pain of the trip up the stairs was setting in. His hands and knees stung, his ankle was throbbing painfully... his heart was twisting with a pain that he was sure would never stop this time. And that was when everything changed. In a heartbeat, it felt like the world had stopped. Blaine appeared in the doorway between the living room and the bedroom. His Blaine, in clothes that were too big for him, and his thick curly hair tussled all over the top of his head with little loops at his temples that Kurt always adored threading his fingers through.

And the first thing Kurt's mind let him respond with was a sharp, shocked bark of a disbelieving laugh before the tears spilled over with a vengeance. "Y-You're here," he gasped in a whisper, pressing both hands over his mouth as he just gaped at Blaine standing there like he was waiting for him to evaporate like a mirage.
